The IBGE broadcasts this Wednesday (3), at 2 pm, a seminar on the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF). The seminar will be presented by Rafael Lopes da Silva, from the Directorate of Geosciences (DGC).

With the aim of presenting the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF), the Directorate of Geosciences (DGC) will offer a seminar to raise awareness among servants about the importance of an international reference, which will guide activities related to Geoinformation Governance and enhance  knowledge about the UN-IGIF at the IBGE.

The Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) created the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF) to develop, integrate, strengthen and enhance the management of geospatial information in all countries.

The UN-IGIF has 3 parts that are interconnected: a Global Strategy, an Implementation Guide and a Plan of Action at the national level. These 3 parts comprehensively comprise the integrated Geospatial Information Framework, which is centered on location information, which can be integrated with any other significant data to solve social and environmental problems, being fundamental not only for economic growth, but also to understand the priorities of a nation's development and of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Since 2009, the Department of Methods and Quality (COMEQ) of the Directorate of Surveys (DPE) has organized IBGE Seminars. The series is a continuation of the LEP Seminars, presented since 1997. All seminars provided by COMEQ are available here.
