The IBGE will stream, live, on Friday (19) results of the “2022 Population Census – Quilombolas: Characteristics of housing units and literacy, by specific territories – Population results” and the “2022 Population Census: Quilombola Localities” at Escola Municipal de Tempo Integral Negro Cosme (a full-time municipal school) - Tv. Visconde de Mauá, 315 - Liberdade - São Luís/MA. The event will also be streamed live on Digital IBGE and on the Institute’s social media channels.
By disseminating information on literacy and characteristics of housing units of the quilombola population, the IBGE expands the official portrait of this specific population group, and presents, on this occasion, new statistics about aspects related to literacy and characteristics of housing units, which are important attributes for the knowledge of the country and the exercise of citizenship.
With the release of “Quilombola Localities”, the Institute presents an unprecedented mapping of quilombola localities existing in the country, which was produced, at first, for the update of the Census Mapping and later updated according to the identification of spatial aggregates of self-declared quilombola persons.
This is the twelfth national release of the 2022 Population Census and data will be presented by the IBGE’s manager for Traditional Territories and Protected Areas, Fernando Damasco and by the coordinator for Census of Traditional Peoples and Communities, Marta de Oliveira Antunes. The director of Surveys, Elizabeth Hypólito, and the deputy-director for the directorate of Surveys, João Hallak Neto, will also attend the event.
Besides the release, there will be, on the same day, from 2 to 6 pm, a technical workshop entitled “A territory of information: Potentialities of Data in the 2022 Census”. The workshop will be given by IBGE analysts Rafael Kessler Fernandez, Marta de Oliveira Antunes, Fernando Damasco, João Ricardo Costa Silva and Luciana Temponi, who will speak about technical and operational aspects of the survey, its potentialities for decision making of local managers.
