The IBGE releases the results of the innovation effort of industrial companies with 100 or more employed persons, measured by the relation between expenditure in Research and Development (R&D) and the net revenue of sales (RLV) in the year of 2022.

The figures related to expenditure in R&D were released in March 2024 in the 2022 Semiannual Pintec: Basic Indicators, a survey carried out in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The RLV data were obtained from the Annual Survey of Industry - Enterprise (PIA Enterprise), released by the IBGE in June this year.

The methodological details of the indicator, as well as the tables with results by activity and size are in the Technical note published today on the IBGE portal. These statistics are classified as experimental and should be used with caution, as they are new statistics still in the test phase and under assessment.
